2Bennett is currently underway with multiple original quattro "restorations". We use the term "restoration" loosely because most times we are updating and upgrading. The car in this story has many upgrades and even a color change complete paint job. We are updating this page occasionally as we go.

Thanks for the confirmation. Here's a brief and honest write up on what got me into restoring an ur quattro.
I've been a car enthusiast since my early teen years and have own and/or driven some memorable vehicles in my lifetime. I have many fond memories of riding in a neighbor's 1966 Lotus Cortina, driving my dad's 1969 Boss 302, my very own 1971 Triumph Bonneville (a motor bike) and a friend's 1973 911S. But one thing I remember most vividly is seeing ABC Wide World of Sports cover a rally event back in the 80's that featured Group B rally cars from the era. A quattro won that particular event. Having never observed that type of racing before, I was amazed by the speed and car control skills that the cars and drivers could achieve and also the craziness of the spectators standing alongside the roads while these amazing machines flew by at insanely high speeds. The memory of that still remains with me to this day.
Fast forward four decades. I am an engineer in my 60's, about to retire after 40 years in the business and still the same car nut I was when I was in my teens. I own a W12 Phaeton (one of the best long distance touring cars ever designed) and a 997 GT3 (a track car you can drive on the street). Suddenly about three years ago, I started thinking about that Group B quattro I saw back in the 80's. One thing led to another and that led to me 2Bennett Audimotive. I started dreaming about restoring an Ur quattro and kept browsing the 2Bennett web site often (there was a green '83 Ur quattro for sale at the time that got my attention but was snatched before I could make up my mind). I got historical books and magazines on Audi, Auto Union and the other brands that make up the four rings in the Audi logo and read them cover to cover (I probably have more historical knowledge of Audis than the folks who sell them). Finally I decided life is too short and might as well go and live my dream. So here I am anxiously waiting to drive a car that I first saw many, many years ago on TV. There were a few problem areas with the body. Time to strip the car down to a bare chassis and fully rebuild and upgrade everything. This former Black Beauty will now be rebuilt and reborn with modern components and systems that will transform it into a virtual new car. The looks of an automotive icon and the ride and drivability of a vehicle fresh off the performance car lot.

We took it all to bare metal for a fresh start and began reshaping it. | ||

Full pressure wash of the underside before drive train removal, mid body work. All dirt and grime is removed from the chassis for refinishing. | ||

Engine removed for new brackets and mounts and then new paint. | ||

AAN Code 20 valve turbo 5 cylinder engine ready for the 2Bennett rebuild. Removed from '93 S4. | ||

2Bennett bodyshop performed a complete color change paintjob. | ||

Now in it's assembly bay, the entire suspension and drive systems are removed for restoration and upgrades. | ||

The interior during the carpet replacement and wiring system overhaul. Recaro power seats in front, 2B custom upholstered rear seats using leather purchased from Recaro to match the front seats, and a 2B rebuilt and recarpeted rear shelf are some interior highlights. |

Engine, vacuum booster for brakes, intercooler, intake plumbing installed. The entire hydraulic power steering and brake booster system is being replaced by a more reliable vacuum boost system. |

| 2Bennett Coil Program suspension with 2B adjustable camber caster mounts installed, 2B front and rear shock tower braces in place. Black [now ultra rare] tail lamp group and new windshield also installed. Fuchs wheels, 2B studs, and nuts installed. | |||
The Fuchs wheels are now freshly restored. Age has caused most of the Fuchs around the world to need some cosmetics. We stripped, machined, refinished, polished and clear coated them back to life. |
